Parker Past & Present

Parker, CO was originally explored in the early 19th century by a number of different explorers. Incorporated in 1981 with a population of only 300, Parker is now home to over 45,297 residents. The town of Parker is situated in Douglas County about 24 miles southeast of the heart of downtown Denver and only a couple hours away from the spectacular Rocky Mountains.

 

Schools, Parks & Recreation

Parker has more than 250 acres of established parkland and over 900 acres of open space. The parks and recreation system incorporates dog parks, sports fields, playgrounds, BBQ grills, picnic areas, trails and concession stands. With its easy access to downtown Denver, locals can experience great shopping, dining and entertainment. In addition, residents can take a day trip to the Rocky Mountains for some skiing, hiking, fishing or camping.

The Douglas County School District RE-1 serves the town of Parker. There are 10 public elementary schools, three middle schools and four public charter schools in Parker. Chaparral High School, Legend High School and Ponderosa High School are also located within the area. Parker additionally has five private school options for students to attend.
